Background Check Information

Learn what you get when you do a background check on an employee.

With the growing importance of data security and confidentiality in workplaces, the significance of background checks has almost multiplied. Background check information provided to the user or the requestor at the end of a background check throws light on so many factors. When you are looking to hire an employee for your firm, you want a candidate with good hands-on skills as well as a decent enough background. What that means is that if an employee has been found violating discipline in his earlier workplaces, he would be termed to have a 'negative background'.

A brief look at the information provided to the requestor of the background check which needs to be done on his to-be employee will indicate why am I saying, "Background checks are important." More importantly, the information that the requestor gets can be used to hire the candidate only if he is found fit.

  • Credit history check - The requestor can request a credit check to be performed on the candidate. Especially significant in financial companies, these credit checks inform the requestor if the candidate has financial liabilities. It will also tell the requestor if the candidate has defaulted on his credit card payments.

  • Bankruptcies, Tax liens check - The information received by the requestor will be in line with the candidates history of paying taxes on time and if he has ever filed for a bankruptcy. Failure to compliance with government rules especially the ones with Taxation would mean that the candidate will be considered "negative" for the job if he has ever defaulted in taxes.

  • Criminal Check - All the local, state and federal criminal databases are checked to see if the candidate has a criminal case filed against him. This is for the employer to be sure that the candidate does not spread unrest if and when he joins the organization. With employee safety and health of the workplace also ranking in any growing organization's metrics dashboard, company owners definitely do not want to risk these factors by employing a person who has a bad criminal history.

The list of checks can gone with addition of Driving History Check, Small claims civil judgment check and so on. An employer can have as many checks done on a candidate just to be doubly sure that he is hiring the right candidate. Of course, for this he needs to take permission of the candidate before he even requests for the background checks to be done.
